Porsche Penske Motorsport will field its two Porsche 963 GTP prototypes at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round at Laguna Seca on May 3, 2026, in a special livery that reproduces the rainbow-striped Apple Computer design from the 1980 Porsche 935 K3. The one-time wrap celebrates two milestones: 75 years of Porsche Motorsport and 50 years since Apple's founding.
The livery
The design is a direct homage to the Dick Barbour Racing Porsche 935 K3 that carried Apple colors during the 1980 season, including an appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That 1980 car was the first Porsche race car to feature the Apple logo. The current 963s will wear the same spectrum pattern, with the Apple logo and Porsche branding.
The race
The fourth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Laguna Seca Raceway runs for two hours and 40 minutes on May 3. The No. 6 Porsche 963 is shared by Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor. The No. 7 car is driven by Julien Andlauer and Felipe Nasr. The No. 7 crew, together with Laurin Heinrich, won the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring and currently lead the championship standings. Porsche also leads the manufacturers' classification.
Customer team JDC-Miller MotorSports will field a third Porsche 963 in the GTP class, with Laurin Heinrich and Tijmen van der Helm driving. In GTD Pro, AO Racing will run its Porsche 911 GT3 R "Rexy" with a throwback "Sketchy" livery. Wright Motorsports enters a Porsche 911 GT3 R in GTD with Adam Adelson and Callum Ilott.
Context
Laguna Seca is located roughly 80 miles south of Apple Park, Apple's headquarters. The circuit hosted the last four Porsche Rennsport Reunions. Porsche achieved a one-two finish at Laguna Seca in 2025 and conducted a two-day test there in early April 2026.
Practical takeaway
This is a one-race livery for the IMSA round at Laguna Seca. The cars will not carry the design at other events. The race airs live on IMSA TV and major sports networks.
